County commissioners are the day to day managers of a $100million budget, with nearly 600 employees.

GP school district, 3 rivers school district, and the city of GP all utilize a professional manager to run operations. Only Josephine County manages by a committee of politicians who are not required to have any management qualifications.

Fiscal restraint must start at the top. The salaries and benefits of the Commissioners as a management team cast taxpayers over $250,000 per year! That’s too expensive! Dave calls for establishing part time, non career commissioner positions. Savings will be used to hire a professional manager. The real savings will come with professional management and more accountability.

With a professional manager, the Commissioners can focus on meeting with communities and addressing many community issues. As a development specialist, Dave will offer his skills to attract resources for community projects.
